| Production capacity: LLDPE 220kt; LDPE 360kt |
The Koeln Site, since June 2006 re-branded as INEOS Koeln GmbH, was founded back
in 1957 as a Joint Venture between the famous British Oil Giant BP and the German
Chemical and Pharmaceutical Company, Bayer. The site today employs approx. 2000
people. The site manufactures Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) and the metallocene
Linear Low Density Polyethylene (mLLDPE).
Its main feedstock is Naphtha which is delivered to the site by barges on the Rhine
River or by pipelines. The site consists of 18 different plants which are set up
in seven so-called assets and is connected to three major feedstock and product
pipelines. It produces more than 4,0 million tes of products per annum, of
which 85% were sold in Germany and the BENELUX Countries to nearly 900 customers.
70% of these customers have their companies located in a 200 km “Circle” around
the site. This means that the Site is extremely well located with regard to feedstock
supplies and transport of goods to customers.
Moreover, INEOS Polyolefins Customer Service Centre is hosted on the site.
