| Production capacity: LDPE 140kt; PP 170kt; Compounding 10kt |
The polyolefin facilities of INEOS Bamble are located in an industrial
area about
160 km south of Oslo and less than an hours drive from Sandefjord Airport Torp (TRF).
The production started in 1977/1978. In addition to above mentioned production capacities,
the facilities comprise a HDPE plant with a production capacity of 130 kt/y, however,
mothballed since 2006. |

There has been shifting owners through the years; Saga Petrokjemi, Norsk Hydro,
Statoil and Borealis until INEOS bought the facilities in September 2007. The site
is closely integrated with the Noretyl cracker which is located in the same industrial
area. INEOS ChlorVinyls in Norway is also located here. The Noretyl cracker provides
the principal feedstock of ethylene and
propylene to the polyolefin plants via dedicated pipelines.
The production of PP-resins are mainly used for fiber and moulding applications,
and LDPE-resins are used pharma, coating, film and moulding applications. The PP
plant has production of random copolymer with high ethylene content as a speciality.
The site’s SHE-policy expressing the target to be a leader in the industry and to
work continuously to improve SHE results by giving SHE top priority throughout the
organization. Historically the site can document very good SHE-results, both regarding
personnel and environment.
As the site is surrounded by
undeveloped areas, there is little exposure to the public. INEOS Bamble keeps an open dialogue with neighbors and the local community
administration to the best interest of all parties.
Number of employees: Approximately 250
